I’ve been teaching meditation workshops in Calgary since 2014, and the truth is…

  • ANYONE CAN LEARN TO MEDITATE…
and receive the benefits even if they’ve struggled in the past and can’t stop their mind from thinking. That’s actually not even possible!

  • THERE ARE ALOT OF OPTIONS OUT THERE…
and people are confused about where to begin so it’s my job to make it simple and effective so you’re not trying to figure it out on your own.

  • YOU NEED TO LEARN FROM A QUALIFIED TEACHER…
because anyone can give you a nice guided meditation experience but that won’t result in the lasting change that you’re looking for.

Living with ease and well-being is possible.

You’ll receive a powerful and practical approach that will change how you experience the rest of your life.

The program’s mainstay is a meditation technique that involves focusing on your breath and a silent sound, or mantra, that helps you direct your attention inward and go beyond your thoughts to reconnect with that place of peace. The technique is powerful yet simple to do.

Group meditation workshops include:

  • An introduction to a meditation practice that is portable and can be done anywhere with no apps or sitting cross-legged on the floor.
  • How to use mindfulness in everyday life.
  • Understanding the effects of stress: how it accumulates and how to release it.
  • Becoming intimate with the way your mind works.
  • Ways in which meditation changes your brain and the findings in neuroplasticity.
  • Three necessary ingredients for any meditation practice.
  • The five essentials for successful meditation.
  • Easy to use meditation techniques.
  • How to meditate anywhere and create your practice.
  • Peace finder practices- what to do when stressed at work or other situations.

Common questions…

Meditation is a name given to the many techniques that turn your attention inward.

There are many types of meditation, each training us to engage or focus our attention. You’ve probably heard of visualization, contemplation, walking, chanting, watching your breath, and silent mantra meditation, but there are many others.

Meditation techniques have been practiced for thousands of years. Initially, meditation was practiced to deepen one’s understanding of the sacred and mystical forces of life. Meditation may be spiritual for some, but the practice is not necessarily religious.

Meditation is becoming mainstream, probably due to the high stress our modern-day lives can create. Millions of people around the world practice it.

Meditation is not about forcing our minds to be quiet; it’s a process of rediscovering that ever-present quietness. Behind the mental chatter is silence, pure awareness, which is not disturbed by thoughts of the past or concerns about the future.

Meditation can be easy if you are taught correctly. It is not about stopping thought: that would be impossible. Meditation is going beyond or transcending thought to find the quiet that is already there.

Whichever type of meditation you choose, done correctly, allows your body to reach a naturally occurring rest state.

According to research, this rest is different from sleep. It is much deeper, and at the same time, you are more alert.

Many meditate to experience inner peace and find meaning and purpose. A growing number of perfectly healthy people also use meditation to reduce stress.

Ask yourself the following:

Do your thoughts never stop?

Are your thoughts based on old, habitual ways of thinking?

Do you have difficulty coping with the stress in your life?

Do you want to feel peaceful and calm?

Do you have health issues?

Do you want to feel better?

Do you ever feel so lost in your thoughts that you miss the present moment?

Do you struggle with cravings for drinking, eating, shopping or other things?

Do you want to be creative, less distracted and more focused?

Do you want to look and feel younger?

If you answered yes to any of these, it may be the right time to learn to meditate.

Almost every health professional recommends meditation because it is a proven way to rest your mind and body and reduce stress. It is a powerful tool that significantly impacts our bodies’ health and the quality of our lives. The most effective way to detoxify the body is to detoxify the mind.

Millions of people are meditating, and research has demonstrated its physical, social, emotional, psychological, and spiritual benefits. In this fast-paced world where stress is the new “normal,” people are” becoming” g increasingly inspired to learn to meditate.

Research has demonstrated the benefits of meditation in many areas:

  • Decreased blood pressure and hypertension
  • Lowered cholesterol levels
  • Reduced levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline
  • Increased production of the anti-aging hormone DHEA
  • Improved immune function
  • Reduced anxiety, depression and insomnia
  • Enhanced concentration, memory and the ability to learn
  • Improved creativity and problem-solving skills

Perhaps the greatest gift of meditation is the sense of inner calm and peace it brings into your daily life.

Thousands of meditation techniques are appropriate for someone somewhere at some time. Each meditation tradition advocates many subtle differences in the rules, but these are just guidelines of what worked in a given situation. They are not carved in stone.

However, any meditation technique has two elements: how you pay attention and what you pay attention to. The how is usually gentle, restful, steady attention, and the what is something simple—like breath.

I was drawn to a method that included techniques based on ancient practices and current research but not aligned with any particular spiritual or religious beliefs. I wanted to practice a simple, effective, and universal meditation method.

I was certified by the McLean Meditation Institution in 2013 to teach the SEED Meditation Method. Over the years, I’ve practiced and learned many types of meditation, which I integrate into my coaching and teachings.

The Simple, Easy, Every Day Meditation ™ or SEED Method includes breath awareness meditation, body awareness technique, heart-centred breath, self-inquiry practice, silent sound (mantra) meditation, mindfulness practices, and peace-finder practices.

All meditations that silently use a mantra have a similar goal—to take your awareness beyond thought into pure silence, pure awareness. You’ll expand your understanding and explore your essential nature beyond your roles and responsibilities. At the same time, you’ll reduce stress in the nervous system so you can face your day with a fresh attitude and calmer manner.

This powerful yet simple meditation method can be learned in as little as three hours and is perfect for anyone—whether you are a beginner or want to get back on track with meditation.

Anyone can learn to meditate. If you have a thought, you can do it, and you don’t have to change a thing—not your diet, religion, or beliefs—nothing.

Although books and other online sources provide excellent information about meditation, having a qualified, experienced teacher act as a guide is helpful and essential.

Meditation is a natural process that isn’t complicated when you know what you’re doing and how to do it.

I started to meditate using a 21-day meditation app, which was a wonderful experience. I loved the message and the minimal time commitment.  It was an introductory, but I had so many questions before long. That’s why I sought out classes and other sources of personal guidance.

I wasn’t comfortable attending some classes because the spiritual underpinnings threatened me. I want to learn to meditate without feeling uncomfortable with that component. I also want to know about meditation’s what, when, where, why, and how, and most of the classes just guided me.

I have found that most people I teach want to learn why they are meditating and how it relates to their own lives.

That’s why I offer group workshops so that people can not only learn about meditation, but can be inspired by why they’d want to meditate in the first place.

A few kind words . . .

I took the group Learn to Meditate Workshop with Bev because I have wanted to learn more about meditation for a while now and know how much I would benefit from it. I was lucky to have an employer who values meditation, and she set up the workshop for us. I had never felt like I had done a successful meditation until then. Bev is absolutely awesome. I feel that she connected with us, shared a part of herself and motivated me to learn. The workshop helps you understand how to meditate on a personal level so that you can feel the benefits right away. I would definitely recommend the workshop to family/friends and clients. The workshop was very empowering and inspiring.

As simple as a few-hour “learn to meditate” workshop sounds, it really changed my life. For someone who was pretty close-minded, unable to sit still or quiet my mind, and who probably made fun of the importance of meditation at some point in my life….. this was perfect. Bev started so simply and sent us home with a 5-minute guided meditation. The rest is history. Bev uncomplicated the process. Who can’t do 5 minutes right? (I definitely didn’t think I could, lol) A little practicing daily, as Bev taught us, has brought me so much more peace and comfort.. a different perspective on what stresses and triggers me. I’ve realized that even if you don’t think you’re getting anything out of it, in the moment, YOU ARE! You just have to keep at it. Thank you, Bev, for introducing me to a more peaceful and happy life.
